Privacy Policy: BhandariTech POS (BT POS) and BhandariTech Display (BT Display)
Effective date: 4 October 2026
BhandariTech ("we", "us", "our") makes two companion apps for the BhandariTech POS till software used by restaurants and food businesses:
- BhandariTech POS (shown as BT POS on your device): a handheld ordering app for restaurant staff.
- BhandariTech Display (shown as BT Display on your device): a kitchen display and customer-facing order screen.
This policy explains what data the apps handle and where that data goes. The BhandariTech POS till software has its own privacy policy, which covers data stored on the till.
Summary
The apps do not send any data to BhandariTech. They talk only to the restaurant's own BhandariTech POS till on the restaurant's local network. We do not run a cloud service for these apps. We do not receive, store or see the orders, customers or staff details they handle. The apps contain no advertising, analytics or tracking code.
Who is responsible for the data
The restaurant or business that runs the BhandariTech POS till decides what information is recorded and is responsible for it as the data controller. If you are a customer of a restaurant and want to see or delete your information, contact that restaurant. We can also pass your request on: [email protected].
What the apps handle
BT POS
- Order details that staff enter: items, options, notes, table and order type. These are sent to the restaurant's till.
- Customer details that staff enter or look up for delivery or account orders, such as name, phone number, delivery address, email and account balance. These are sent to, and read from, the restaurant's till.
- Staff sign-in. Staff enter their staff number and PIN, which the till checks. The app does not store PINs.
- Camera. The camera is used only to scan the pairing QR code shown on the till. No photos or video are saved or sent anywhere.
- On the device, the app keeps the till's address, a pairing token, the till's security certificate fingerprint, the last signed-in staff number and simple settings. These are deleted when the app is removed.
BT Display
- The app receives order information from the till so it can show it: items, totals, table or customer name, and kitchen notes. It sends back only pairing requests and "order done" actions, which identify the order by invoice number.
- On the device, the app keeps the till's address, a display token, the certificate fingerprint and simple settings.
How data is protected
- Data travels only across the restaurant's local network, between the device and the till.
- Each handheld or display must be approved on the till first, by a one-time QR code or pairing code. The restaurant can remove a device from the till at any time.
- Once paired, the apps use an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to the till. They accept only that till's own certificate, so another device on the network cannot pretend to be the till. With older till versions that do not support this, the apps fall back to an unencrypted local connection.
- Unused devices are signed out automatically after 30 days.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share data from these apps with anyone. The apps do not use advertising or analytics services.
Children
The apps are business tools for restaurant staff. They are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the UK and EU), and we do not knowingly collect children's data.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because the data is held on the restaurant's till and not by us, please send these requests to the restaurant. We will help where we can: [email protected].
Changes
If these apps change how they handle data, we will update this policy and change the effective date above.
